About the Algonquin Lions Club
The organization meeting was held September 18, 1939, at Simonini’s Restuarant, Algonquin, Illinois. Doctor Sculley was the first president.
The Algonquin Lions Club is an Illinois Not-For-Profit 501(c)(3) Corporation – File Number 53856098. It manages the Algonquin Lions Foundation an Illinois Incorporated 501 (c) (4) Charitable Foundation – File Number 70753537. The Foundation raises funds and accepts tax deductible donations. These funds are used to provide financial support for services (Example: vision Testing and Eyeglasses) for people, families and organizations that have a need for financial assistance.
The Algonquin Lions Club provides management and labor to successfully run Algonquin Lions Foundation projects. The projects and events raise the funds used by the Foundation that are allocated to support the Algonquin Lions Foundation financial commitments.
The Foundation was formed to comply with taxing authorities, primarily the IRS, requirements such that donations to the Foundation are tax deductible.
The Algonquin Lions Club is a part of Lions International an organization of 1.4 million men and women worldwide. The Lions International has the Lions Club International Foundation that provides funding for disaster assistance worldwide in addition to providing financial support to other humanitarian assistance projects. Algonquin Lions Foundation Funds are used Locally. Lions International Manages the Lions Club International Foundation, the LCIF. The LCIF receives tax deductible donations to fund the following areas. These areas are also supported by the Algonquin Lions Club and the Algonquin Lions Foundation at a local level.

These foundations support the local, state, national and international charitable causes of the Lions Club Organizations.
